Unemployment in Scotland has seen more than one per cent increase to seven per cent over the past three months, a 2.7 per cent rise compared to the same time last year, Office for National Statistics figures have revealed.

Unemployment in the UK?s East region has risen to 6.5 per cent of the total working population, an increase of 1.9 cent than at the same time last year. However, the regional percentage is still lower than the current national average of 7.8 per cent published by the Office for National Statistics.

Unemployment in the Yorkshire region seen nearly a one per cent increase to 8.8 per cent over the past three months, a 2.8 per cent increase on the same time last year, the latest Office for National Statistics figures have revealed.

A total of 40 per cent of recruitment agencies specialising in technology posts expect the number of permanent placements they fill to decline this month (August) with only 27 per cent expecting an increase over the same period, according to the REC Technology?s Recovery Watch Survey.

Unemployment in the north east has seen a 1.4 per cent rise over the past three months of this year, bringing the total of people in the region out of work to 9.8 per cent, ahead of the UK?s 7.8 per cent average.
